The stand works on nearly any surface that it won't slide off of, and can also be used to hang it in any position you want.
I didn't know there were four light settings, until I came on the website and read about it. Long push of the button gives you the brightest setting, also, turns instantly off instead of going through all the other settings.
As advertised, the magnet is very strong, and can allow you to put this thing on any iron-based surface.
I actually do keep this device on my key ring, as an EDC device, and it has proven quite useful in ways I didn't even imagine.
If you need a quick, compact light source, look no further than this.
I'm very active, I do a lot of work on different things, in different places, in various positions, and I have not had any problem with fragility of this item.
We've used it to find stuff under furniture, in closets, outside in the dark, hasn't failed us yet.
It's bright enough to illuminate an entire area for a group of people to do whatever they need to do.
In fact, you could probably hang several of these on trees for a temporary work area.
